India, being a tropical country has most traditional dresses suited to hot climates. Be it the saree, dhoti, kurta, salwar kameez, these have all been designed to be airy, cool and comfortable.
For the fashion savvy modern India, although the western outfits like tops and trousers are a must wear, the kurtas do show a prominent presence especially in summers, when more than being trendy, girls want to feel comfortable. It is during these times that one can see the most attractive, classy, amd chic traditional kurtis that do the round of schools, colleges and offices.
These kurtis are usually made of cotton, the summer fabric, have short lengths, above the knee and can be worn with slacks, trousers, jeans, skirts and of course pajamas. So if you have just one smart kurti, you can mix and match it with any of the above mentioned bottom to be ready for some partying or the routine office or college day.
Sleeveless kurtis are worn more nowadays because that is how most shop owners sell these tops. The sleeves are also attached if asked for, when someone prefers a more conservative way of wearing the kurti.
For summers in India, sleeveless kurtis are a wardrobe must have.
